John Wheatcroft

John Wheatcroft is a Principal Lecturer (Guitar) at BIMM London and a visiting lecturer at the University of West London (London College of Music) and Chester University. As both an artist and educator, he bridges practical and academic aspects of guitar performance, with a focus on blues, jazz, and gypsy jazz traditions.

His research and teaching emphasize improvisation, swing music harmony, and the legacy of Django Reinhardt. He has authored the book Improvising Blues Guitar and released two solo albums, Ensemble Futur (2015) and First Light (2022), featuring original compositions in duet with double-bass virtuoso Mark Rose.

John has collaborated with renowned artists such as Billy Cobham (Miles Davis), Carl Verheyen (Supertramp), and John Jorgenson (Elton John), while contributing educational content to publications like Guitar Techniques UK and Guitar World USA. His work integrates technical mastery with a deep appreciation for jazz and blues traditions.
