John Watt is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Spatial Planning, Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien), and a Visiting Researcher at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center in the Research Area Digitalization and Societal Transformation.
He holds a PhD in Sustainable Procurement from the University of Strathclyde.
Dr. Watt's research focuses on the role of public procurement in developing socially responsible global supply chains through emerging theories in transnational regulatory governance and networks. His key research interests include:

Currently, he examines labour standards in public procurement legislation and trade agreements affecting EU market access through the LG-GPN project. His work bridges academic theory with practical policy development in sustainable procurement frameworks.
Prior to his current roles, Dr. Watt spent five years coordinating EU research projects on social, green, and circular public procurement as part of the Sustainable Economy and Procurement Team at ICLEI.
He actively contributes to the Centre of Public Finance and Infrastructure Policy at TU Wien while maintaining his visiting affiliation at WZB Berlin.
