John Stoney is an Associate Professor in the Department of Studio Art (Sculpture & Extended Media) at the University of Texas at Austin's College of Art. He holds a BFA from Syracuse University and an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Previously served in the Peace Corps in Togo, West Africa. His practice spans sculpture, installation art, and mixed-media works addressing themes of environment, materiality, and human experience. Represented by Caren Golden Fine Arts in New York.
Key exhibitions include the 2024 Low Country exhibition, 2017 Grey show featuring geological-inspired installations, and 2009 For Your Love series exploring sculptural narratives. Works often incorporate found materials and site-specific elements.
