John Shiu

John Shiu, also known as Bebo Shiu, is a Double Bass Artist Faculty member at the College of the Holy Cross, Longy School of Music, and Killington Music Festival. He serves as Director of String Ensemble at Bridgewater State University and is Assistant Principal Bass of the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra. He holds a DMA in Double Bass Performance from Boston University and is an active performer and educator in the classical music field.

His educational background includes a D.M.A. in Double Bass Performance from Boston University.

John Shiu's research and performance interests center on double bass performance, orchestral and chamber music, string ensemble direction, and music education. His work bridges performance practice with academic instruction in music theory and history. He has also taught Anthropology courses, reflecting a broader interdisciplinary interest.
