John Sebastian is a Lecturer and PhD candidate at Melbourne Law School, researching special rights for linguistic and religious minorities in the Indian Constitution. His work examines constitutional engagement with identity conflicts and belongs to the Constitution Transformation Network and Asian Law Centre.
Education includes BCL (Distinction) from University of Oxford where he received the Tobias Law Prize, and BA/LLB (Hons) from National Law University Delhi. Previously served as Assistant Professor at OP Jindal Global University teaching constitutional law, criminal law and administrative law.
Research interests span legal/political theory, constitutional law, and criminal law with comparative focus on India. Publications address constitutional recognition of minority identities and theoretical frameworks for rights conflicts.
