Dr. John Scholar is a Lecturer in English Literature at the University of Reading's Department of English Literature, part of the School of Humanities. His research focuses on Victorian and modern literature, exploring intersections with intellectual history, continental philosophy (e.g., Heidegger, Bergson), and economics. He authored Henry James and the Art of Impressions (OUP, 2020), analyzing James’s work through interdisciplinary lenses. Currently, he is researching economics, psychoanalysis, and literature between the World Wars.
