John Reidy is a part-time Lecturer in Psychology at Sheffield Hallam University with emeritus professor status. His career includes leadership roles as former Head of the Department of Psychology, Sociology and Politics and University Academic Work Planning Lead (2016-2020). He holds a BSc from Polytechnic of East London (1990) and PhD from Birkbeck College, University of London (1994).
Research examines cognitive biases in anxiety/depression, measurement of driving self-regulation, and psychometric evaluation of wellbeing frameworks. His eye-tracking investigations analyze emotion recognition in clinical populations. Current projects include modifying memory biases associated with anxiety disorders.
Teaching encompasses statistics, research methods, health psychology, and cognitive neuroscience across undergraduate and postgraduate programs. He currently supervises doctoral research and previously served as external examiner at Westminster University and Open University.
