John Pilsner

Dr. John Pilsner is an Assistant Professor of English and Director of the Humanities and Catholic Cultures Program at Franciscan University. He joined the university in 2013 after teaching at Queens College, New York. His research focuses on interdisciplinary humanities, blending literature, philosophy, theology, and art history to explore themes of wit and humor in challenging contemporary paradigms of learning, such as in works by St. Paul, Francis Petrarch, and St. Thomas More.

His work emphasizes the intersection of Catholic culture and humanities, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue.

Advising & Leadership: He serves as faculty sponsor for the English Honor Society and vocational coach for Franciscan University’s Center for Leadership. His academic leadership extends to directing programs that integrate faith and intellectual inquiry.

Labs/Teams: Leads the Humanities and Catholic Cultures Program, promoting scholarly engagement with cultural and theological traditions.
