John-Paul Riordan serves as a Reader in Education and School Director of Graduate Studies at Canterbury Christ Church University's School of Social Work, Education, and Teacher Education. He is an active educational researcher and member of the British Educational Research Association (BERA) and Knowledge and Quality across School Subjects and Teacher Education (KOSS) network.
Holding a PhD in Science Education focused on conceptual change pedagogy, Dr Riordan brings 17 years of secondary school teaching experience (1999-2016), including physics specialization in mainstream schools and specialized instruction for children with complex needs in a special school setting. His prior background includes four years as a care worker for adults with learning difficulties in France.
