John P. Crowley is Associate Professor of Communication at the University of Delaware. His research examines physiological aspects of interpersonal communication, particularly stress responses to difficult social experiences.
Investigates disclosure processes, forgiveness, and social support in marginalized communities. Uses biosocial models to analyze physiological responses to discrimination and hurtful communication. Current studies measure oxytocin dynamics during intimacy and stress responses to hate speech.
Recipient of the NCA Early Career Award (2020). Trains students in physiological measurement techniques including cortisol and oxytocin analysis. Certified in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction instruction.
