About
John D. Oswald is a Professor in the Department of Entomology at Texas A&M University and Curator of the Texas A&M University Insect Collection. His research focuses on insect systematics, biodiversity informatics, and the evolution of Neuropterida (Neuroptera, Megaloptera, Raphidioptera). He holds a Ph.D. in Systematic Entomology from Cornell University and has contributed extensively to global taxonomic databases and phylogenetic studies.
Education: B.S. Forest Management (Oregon State University), M.S. Entomology (Oregon State University), Ph.D. Systematic Entomology (Cornell University).
Research interests include phylogenetic analysis of lacewings, biodiversity informatics, and curation of entomological collections. Oswald has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles, including seminal works on Neuropterida systematics and digital taxonomy tools. His recent projects focus on anchored phylogenomics and global species inventories.
Notable contributions include the Neuropterida Species of the World database and collaborative studies on antlion phylogeny. He teaches courses on insect morphology and evolutionary biology.
