John Nielsen

John Nielsen is a Professor of History at Bradley University, specializing in Assyriology and ancient Mesopotamian studies. His research focuses on Babylonian administrative texts, family naming conventions, and the socio-political dynamics of early Neo-Babylonian society. He has contributed significantly to understanding the cultural interactions between urban elites, Assyrian imperial policies, and tribal groups like the Chaldeans.

His recent work includes analyzing family names in cuneiform texts (2024) and exploring Babylonian history from Nebuchadnezzar I to Tiglath-pileser III (2023).
