Dr. John Murphy is an Associate Professor and research leader at the University of Westminster's School of Life Sciences. His career includes academic positions at King's College London (1991) and leadership roles as Head of Biomedical Sciences (2014-2018). He currently co-directs the Medicines Diagnostics and Disease Modelling Research Group and Genome Engineering Laboratory.
His research focuses on molecular oncology and immunology, particularly:
- RNA-binding proteins (ZFP36 family) in cancer regulation
- Post-transcriptional control of gene expression
- B-cell receptor signaling in leukemia
- Developing CRISPR and deep learning approaches for cancer research
