John McInerney

John McInerney is a Professor and Head of the Department of Physics at University College Cork (UCC). His research focuses on semiconductor laser physics and technology, including the dynamics of lasers, nonlinear optical systems, optical switching, and applications of lasers in medical and engineering fields. He has contributed significantly to the development of quantum-dot lasers, vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs), and stabilization techniques for mode-locked lasers.
