John Mah is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences at the University of Colorado Boulder. He holds an MS in Aeronautics & Astronautics from Stanford University and a BS in Aeronautical Engineering from the U.S. Air Force Academy. His career spans academia and military service, with roles including Chief of Target Operations & Plans at the Pentagon and Deputy Division Chief for Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance in Hawaii. Mah has been recognized for his educational contributions, receiving the 2019 CU Engineering Innovation in Education Award and the Marinus Smith Award.
His professional experience includes leadership in Air Force operations, such as Director of Intel Operations at the 1st Special Operations Wing and instructor roles at the Air Force Weapons School. His research and teaching focus on aerospace engineering and innovative pedagogical approaches in engineering education. He currently teaches at CU Boulder and continues to engage in academic leadership.
