John Liptay

John Liptay is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at STM College, specializing in Thomistic ethics, natural law theory, and the philosophy of Bernard Lonergan. He holds degrees from the University of Toronto (Ph.D., M.A.) and Queen's University (B.A. Hons.).

His research focuses on Aquinas’ ethical framework, the integration of natural law with intercultural philosophy, and von Hildebrand’s philosophy of love. He has presented at conferences including the Canadian Jacques Maritain Association (2010) and the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross (2010).

Teaching responsibilities include courses on medieval philosophy, ethics, critical thinking, and Catholic studies. He chairs the Catholic Studies Minor Advisory Committee and contributes to interdisciplinary academic initiatives.
