John J. Maher is the Thomas M. Wells & Kathy Dargo Professor at Virginia Tech’s Pamplin College of Business, where he has served since 1985. He is a leading expert in Capital Markets, Accounting Information Systems, and Auditing, with a focus on debt markets and decision modeling. Maher has held leadership roles, including Department Head of Accounting and Information Systems (2016–2021) and Director of the ACIS Ph.D. program for 15 years. He has advised over 25 dissertation committees and is a three-time recipient of Pamplin’s Business Teaching Excellence Award.
