About
John Enman-Beech is a Lecturer in the Law of Contract at The Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London. Their research focuses on contemporary issues in contract law, particularly in work, consumer, and user law, with an emphasis on relationships mediated by digital platforms, gig economy apps, and commercial entities. Methodologically, their work integrates doctrinal analysis with feminist, queer, and critical legal and economic theories.
John has published in prestigious journals including the Dalhousie Law Journal, Canadian Journal of Law and Society, Supreme Court Law Review, and Journal of Law and Equality. They actively engage in interdisciplinary academic discourse through events like the Queer@King’s Reading Group, which they lead, focusing on seminal works in queer theory (e.g., José Esteban Muñoz’s Cruising Utopia, Lauren Berlant and Michael Warner’s Sex in Public, and Jack Halberstam’s Female Masculinity).
John’s academic activities emphasize critical engagement with social justice, law, and technology. Their teaching and research bridge legal theory with practical applications in modern economic and social structures.
