Professor John Daley AM is a Professorial Fellow at the University of Melbourne's Melbourne Law School and a partner at EY Port Jackson Partners. He previously served as the inaugural CEO of the Grattan Institute for 11 years, focusing on institutional reform, budget policy, tax reform, and housing affordability. He holds a DPhil in public law from the University of Oxford (1999) and graduated from Melbourne Law School in 1990.
His research emphasizes policy reform dynamics, intergenerational equity, and trust in governance. He has held roles at ANZ Bank, McKinsey & Co, and the Victorian Department of Premier and Cabinet. He chairs the Australian National Academy of Music.
