John D. Stephens is the Gerhard E. Lenski, Jr., Distinguished Professor of Political Science and Sociology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Director of the Center for European Studies, European Union Center of Excellence, and Trans-Atlantic Masters program. He holds a B.A. from Harvard University (1970) and a Ph.D. from Yale University (1976). His research focuses on comparative politics and political economy, with regional expertise in Europe, the Antipodes, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
