Dr John Connor is a Lecturer in Literature & Politics at King's College London's Department of English Language & Literature, part of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities. Previously, he taught at Colgate University from 2011 to 2017. He holds a BA from the University of Cambridge and MA/PhD from the University of Pennsylvania.
His research focuses on 20th-century Left literary culture, modernism, socialist culture, and the historical novel. Key projects include a revisionary history of the historical novel from Romanticism to the present, and studies on Anglo-Soviet literary relations and anti-colonial writing in the Soviet Second World. He supervises PhDs in these areas.
Connor teaches modules like 'Reading Poetry,' 'Politics & Literature,' and 'Realism and Its Others.' His 10+ publications span books, journal articles, and book reviews, emphasizing modernist aesthetics, cultural Cold War dynamics, and ideological conflicts in literature. He actively engages with global literary histories and radical social movements.
