John C. Ball is a Professor in the Department of English at the University of New Brunswick. His work bridges postcolonial and diaspora theory, ecocriticism, satire studies, and Canadian literature, with a focus on fiction, historical narratives, and creative writing.
- Author of Imagining London: Postcolonial Fiction and the Transnational Metropolis (2004) and Satire and the Postcolonial Novel (2003)
- Co-editor of The Encyclopedia of Twentieth-Century Fiction (2011) and special issues of Studies in Canadian Literature, including The Ruptured Commons (2024)
His recent scholarship applies risk theory and eco-cosmopolitanism to analyze climate change narratives and postcolonial oceanic representations. He has directed local theatre productions for Theatre UNB and supervised over 33 graduate theses in literature and creative writing.
