John Bernard

John Bernard is a Lecturer in Lighting Design at the Department of Theatre and Dance, Santa Clara University. He earned his MFA in Theater with a focus on lighting design from the University of Washington in 2015.

His professional experience includes regional work in theater and dance with companies such as:

• Children's Musical Theater San Jose
• City Lights Theater Company
• SJ Dance Co
• Silicon Valley Shakespeare
• AXIS Dance in Berkeley, CA

John is a proud member of the United States Institute for Theater Technology (USITT) and teaches courses in Stage Lighting. He also serves as Production Manager for the One Act Festivals and Spring Dance Festival, and as a lighting and projections designer for Mainstage productions.
