Dr. John Barden is a Professor in Kinesiology and Health Studies at the University of Regina and serves as the Associate Dean for the Undergraduate program.
His educational background includes:
- MSc from the University of Ottawa
- PhD from the University of Alberta
Dr. Barden's research focuses on biomechanics and motor control/learning, with applications in sport science and health. He utilizes wearable technology for locomotor assessment, including gait variability analysis in older adults and performance analysis in swimming.
His research has been supported by funding from Own the Podium (OTP) and the Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation (SHRF). He has received awards including the Paragon Award of Innovation and the InnoCentive Challenge.
Dr. Barden has supervised numerous graduate students and is a member of the College of Reviewers for the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).
