John Bailey

John Bailey is a Professor at the College of Forestry, Oregon State University, affiliated with both the Forest Engineering, Resources & Management and Forest Ecosystems & Society departments. His research utilizes silviculture practices to achieve diverse landscape objectives including commodity production, habitat creation, and fire risk reduction.

Education includes:

• PhD in Forest Science from Oregon State University (1996)
• MF in Forest Biology from Virginia Tech (1985)
• BS in Forestry and Wildlife from Virginia Tech (1983)

Research interests focus on fire ecology, forest health, and silviculture, examining economic, ecological, and sociopolitical dimensions of forest management. Current projects evaluate stand structure impacts on fire hazard and post-fire recovery.
