John Arngrim Hunnes

John Arngrim Hunnes is a Professor of Economics at the University of Agder (UiA), affiliated with the Department of Economics and Finance within the School of Business and Law. He holds a PhD and MSc from the NHH Norwegian School of Economics. His research focuses on Economic History, Business Ethics, and Sustainability, with notable contributions to understanding financial crises, corporate sustainability transitions, and ethics in business education. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Hauge School of Management and serves on the Academic Committee for Business Ethics at the National Council of Higher Education in Business Administration.

His work spans academic publications in Journal of Business Ethics, Financial History Review, and others, as well as popular articles in Norwegian media. He co-authored Financial Crises in a Historical Perspective (2016) and contributed to books on sustainability and ethics. Recognized for teaching excellence, he received UiA's award in 2018 and became an Excellent Teaching Practitioner in 2021.

Hunnes' research emphasizes sustainability implementation challenges, organizational culture in business ethics, and historical lessons for modern economic policy. He leads initiatives at the Centre for Teaching and Learning (UiA PULS) and collaborates with the RIST research group on sustainable transitions. His op-eds address macroeconomic trends, interest rates, and Norway's petroleum policy dilemmas.
