Dr. John A. Posada serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biotechnology at Delft University of Technology's Faculty of Applied Sciences. He leads the John Posada Duque Group within the Biotechnology and Society research section, focusing on integral sustainability for the biobased economy.
His research spans techno-economic, environmental, and social sustainability assessments for biorefineries, emphasizing the integration of all three sustainability pillars. Using methodologies from engineering practice and social sciences, his work addresses conceptual process design, supply chain optimization, and multi-criteria analysis to develop long-term sustainable bioeconomy solutions.
Dr. Posada coordinates the “Design of Sustainable Biotechnological Processes” course (LB2611) for second-year Life Science and Technology bachelor students. His research portfolio includes significant projects such as the Horizontal International Project for Biojet Fuel in Brazil, the IBIS EU Calculator for sustainable European societies, and the SuPER-W initiative for resource recovery from wastewater.
He supervises multiple doctoral candidates and maintains active international collaborations, notably the Dual Doctoral Degree program between UNICAMP and TU Delft. His work bridges technical process design with societal impact assessment to advance sustainable biobased solutions.
