John A. Fillwalk

John A. Fillwalk is the Senior Director of Hybrid Design Technologies in the Office of Information Technology and an Associate Professor of Electronic Art at Ball State University. He also directs the Institute for Digital Intermedia Arts, focusing on the intersection of art, science, and technology through virtual environments and simulations.

• Education: MFA and MA in Intermedia and Video Art from the University of Iowa (1990)

His research explores immersive digital experiences, blending artistic and technological methodologies to advance virtual simulations. Fillwalk contributes to academic leadership as President of the Hans Breder Foundation and a Board member of the Virtual World Heritage Laboratory.

Fillwalk’s career spans over three decades, with ongoing projects in digital intermedia design and institutional collaboration.
