John Ågren is a Professor Emeritus at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden, and a Visiting Professor at Northwestern University, USA. He holds a Master of Science (1975) and a TeknD in physical metallurgy (1981) from KTH. His career includes roles as Chair of Materials Science and Engineering (1991–2017), Department Head (1983–1993), and leadership in multiple academic and industrial initiatives. Ågren’s research focuses on phase transformations, diffusion, and computational materials science, with applications in steel alloys, cemented carbides, and superalloys.
