Johannes Orphal

Prof. Dr. Johannes Orphal is a distinguished academic at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), serving as Division Manager for the Natural and Built Environment. His research focuses on atmospheric chemistry, spectroscopy, and remote sensing, with particular emphasis on trace gas analysis, stratospheric processes, and greenhouse gas monitoring. He leads the Collaborative Carbon Column Observing Network (COCCON) and the GLORIA airborne limb-imaging project, advancing technologies for atmospheric observation.
