Johann Trupp is an Associate Scientist at the University of Oldenburg and a staff member of the Media Transformations Department since July 1, 2023. Prior to this, he was a doctoral student in the same department from October 2020 to June 2023, conducting research as part of the DFG-funded project "Educational Media 4.0? An Analysis of Changes in Production and Knowledge Transfer in the Field of Educational Media."

Research Interests span educational media, discourse analysis, disability studies, and visual literacy. The Media Transformations Department (MeTra) focuses on the sociopolitical impacts of media changes in education, examining how media reproduces or challenges social power dynamics in schools. Trupp contributes to projects analyzing postdigital environments, generative AI in education, virtual reality applications, and digital citizenship education.
Research Infrastructure: MeTra operates "The Basement," a digital lab serving as a "future classroom" for studying educational media interactions and developing innovative teaching scenarios. This space facilitates collaboration between academia and educational practitioners.
