Johan van Braak

Johan van Braak is a Professor at Ghent University’s Department of Educational Studies. His research focuses on ICT integration in education, computational thinking, teacher training, and digital literacy.

His work explores the relationship between teachers’ pedagogical beliefs and technology use, ICT policy planning, and student performance. He has developed assessment instruments for teacher ICT competencies and student digital skills, emphasizing equity and quality in education.

Recent publications highlight trends in ICT-integrated curricula, test-taking motivation, and computational thinking in language education. He has supervised numerous PhD students, including Xinlei Li and Lisa De Schaepmeester, and collaborates extensively with researchers like Jo Tondeur and Koen Aesaert.
