Joey Tigert is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Auburn University's School of Industrial and Graphic Design, part of the College of Architecture, Design and Construction. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting with a minor in Graphic Design from Middle Tennessee State University and a Master of Fine Arts in 2D Studio Art from Southern Illinois University. Prior to Auburn, he taught Art Foundations at Middle Tennessee State University, Motlow State Community College, and Southern Illinois University.
His research focuses on the intersection of technology and human perception, exploring how advancements in technology influence the natural world and artistic expression. Tigert’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, emphasizing a multimedia approach to art and design. He is enthusiastic about fostering creativity among students and collaborating with the outstanding faculty at Auburn’s School of Industrial and Graphic Design.
In his role at Auburn, Tigert aims to expand his creative practice while contributing to the academic community through teaching and research. His interdisciplinary approach bridges traditional art forms with modern technological innovations, reflecting his commitment to evolving artistic paradigms.
