Joey Goergen is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Foundation department of the Cleveland Institute of Art. He holds an MFA in Studio Art from the University at Buffalo (2024) and a BFA in Drawing and Printmaking from the Cleveland Institute of Art (2018). His artistic practice explores themes of grief, joy, and subcultural narratives through abstract painting, installation, and performative works that engage viewers via unconventional mediums like phone calls and street signs.
Goergen has exhibited his work at MOCA Cleveland and collaborates with the Cozy Up! Collective in Ohio. His Masters thesis exhibition, Anything Can Happen Here, was held at Hunt Art Gallery. He has also contributed as an illustrator for bands such as Excide and Sign Language, creating album art and merchandise.
