Joel's career spans both academia and practice. He was a retired partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, where he led Bay Area offices and participated in executive committees, focusing on antitrust litigation and global merger investigations. He also served as a Trial Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division. At Berkeley Law, he teaches international antitrust and contributes to the Berkeley Center for Law and Business.
