Joe Viana

Joe Viana is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Industrial Economics and Technology Management, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). With a PhD in Operational Research and an MSc in Management Science from the University of Southampton, UK, he specializes in applying simulation modeling to healthcare and supply chain systems.

His research focuses on Operational Research and Health Services Research, utilizing Discrete-Event Simulation, Agent-Based Modeling, and System Dynamics to analyze healthcare operations and supply chain resilience. Current work includes the HARMONI project for sustainable healthcare resource management.

He has published extensively on hybrid simulation frameworks, digital twins in healthcare, and medicine supply chain disruptions, collaborating with institutions in Norway, the UK, and internationally. His outreach includes invited lectures at the University of Exeter, Simon Fraser University, and the Operational Research Applied to Health Services (ORAHS) conference.
