Dr Joe Stevens serves as a Senior Lecturer at the School of Law, University of West London, bringing prior professional experience from the Royal Military Police and civilian police force to his academic role. He holds a PhD from the University of Bedfordshire alongside law degrees from the University of Northampton.

Research Interests
Dr Stevens investigates critical tensions between crime and criminal justice systems, sentencing frameworks, and prison policy, while examining state and international community responses to conflicts between terrorism concerns, international law, and human rights protections. His advocacy work includes leading the successful 'Ban the Box' campaign that eliminated criminal conviction disclosure requirements for student applications at Bloomsbury Institute.

Teaching and Supervision
