Joe Lee

Joe Lee is a Lecturer and field study coordinator in the Asian American & Asian Diaspora Studies Program at the University of California, Berkeley's Department of Ethnic Studies. He teaches courses on advancing health equity for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities and coordinates the Certificate in Asian American Community Health. His work integrates academic and community partnerships through collaborations with the Asian American & Pacific Islander Health Research Group and local health centers.

Research focuses on health equity within Asian American and diaspora communities, emphasizing community-centered approaches to healthcare policy, cross-sector partnerships, and capacity-building. Outside academia, Lee is Founder and Principal Consultant at Community Health Synergy, a queer-owned firm advancing health equity through strategic planning, grants management, and workforce development.

With 15 years of experience, Lee has supported Federally Qualified Health Centers, community organizations, and government agencies across the U.S., Hawai’i, and Pacific Islands. His career includes roles at organizations like Kaiser Permanente and the Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations.
