Joe Jones is a Teaching Associate and PhD student in the School of History at Queen Mary University of London. His research focuses on black global activism in post-war Britain, examining the intersections of race, empire, and international left-wing politics through the lens of activists from Africa and the Caribbean. He holds an MPhil in Modern European History from the University of Cambridge and a BA in History from the University of Leeds.
Before joining Queen Mary, he worked in collections and curation at the Imperial War Museums (IWM). His PhD is funded by the Queen Mary – Stuart Hall Foundation Principal’s Research Studentship. Research interests include decolonisation, anticolonialism, and the British left’s engagement with global movements. He currently teaches the module 'Unravelling Britain: British History since 1801.'
