Joe Bennett is a Professor at Berklee College of Music, affiliated with the Professional Music and Liberal Arts departments. As a musicologist, researcher, and writer, he specializes in popular music analysis, songwriting, and forensic musicology. He holds a Ph.D. in Music from the University of Surrey (2014) and a B.A. in Music from Northumbria University (1991). Bennett has published over 30 music education books used worldwide and serves as an expert witness in music plagiarism cases.
Research Interests: Bennett's academic work focuses on the creative practice and psychology of songwriters, examining technical aspects of song construction and emotional impact. His research spans music copyright issues, forensic analysis of musical similarity, artist development methodologies, and the intersection of music technology with creative processes.
