Dr. Jodi Skipper is an Associate Professor of Anthropology and Southern Studies at the University of Mississippi, affiliated with the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and the Center for the Study of Southern Culture. Her research focuses on African diaspora anthropology, historic sites management, and historical archaeology, particularly exploring how African American histories are preserved and represented in heritage projects. She established foundational work through her dissertation on the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Dallas and expanded her work through initiatives like the Behind the Big House program and the Promiseland Historic Preservation project.
