Dr. Jock Gilbert is a Senior Lecturer in the Landscape Architecture Discipline at RMIT University's School of AUD. He co-founded the Yulendj Weelam Design Research Laboratory, focusing on collaboration between academics, Indigenous knowledge holders, and designers to ensure Australia's built environment respects First Peoples' knowledges. His research emphasizes Indigenous-led design, community engagement, and regenerative practices in landscapes and green infrastructure. He has been involved in projects across western NSW and the Murray-Darling Basin, addressing land-use, water, and community dynamics. Awards include multiple AILA recognitions for research in 2020 and 2018.
Teaching highlights include leading the On Country studio series, recognized with RMIT’s 2023 Eleanor A. Bourke Award for Indigenous Education.
