Jochen Schlapp

Prof. Jochen Schlapp is an Associate Professor of Operations and Technology Management at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. He serves as Academic Director of the BSc in Computational Business Analytics. His research focuses on optimizing R&D and new product development processes, particularly the interplay between new technologies and operations strategy. He emphasizes managing uncertainty in innovation portfolios and the strategic use of contests in procurement.

Prof. Schlapp teaches Innovation Management, New Product Development, and Operations Strategy across EMBA, MBA, and MSc programs. He also develops executive education programs for industries like automotive and ICT, addressing innovation-driven business development and supply chain resilience. He is a board member of the INFORMS Technology, Innovation Management & Entrepreneurship Section and has received multiple awards, including the Management Science Distinguished Service Award (2024) and INFORMS Senior Member status.

His recent accolades include a 2024 INFORMS BOM Best Working Paper Competition Second Place and a TIMES Best Paper Award. His work spans academic journals like Management Science, Operations Research, and Manufacturing & Service Operations Management.
