Joanne Ritter-Teitel

Joanne Ritter-Teitel, PhD, MA, RN, is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs and Community Partnerships at the College of Nursing, SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. With a career spanning over three decades, she has held executive nursing roles at Montefiore Medical Center, Orange Regional Medical Center, and University Hospital at Downstate.

• Education: BSN from Columbia University, MA in Nursing Delivery Services from New York University, and PhD in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania.

Her research explores the predictive value of professional nursing attributes on patient outcomes, rooted in clinical practice models and informed by her work with the Magnet Study and executive fellowships at Wharton School of Business.

• Awards: Johnson & Johnson Nurse Executive Fellowship recipient.

She has served as President of the New York Organization of Nurse Executives and Leaders (NYONEL) and guest editor for the Journal of Nursing Administration (JONA). Her expertise bridges clinical leadership, healthcare policy, and executive nursing practice.
