Dr. Jo Line is an Assistant Professor and Fieldwork and Partnerships Coordinator at Hiram College. Her research focuses on fostering inclusive and collaborative teams through feminist cultural studies perspectives in sport. She holds a Ph.D. in American Culture Studies from Bowling Green State University, an M.S. in Exercise and Sport Studies from Smith College, and a B.A. in Biology & French from Oberlin College.
Her work integrates her experience as a Division I/III coach and elite distance runner. She consults nationwide on LGBTQI+ inclusion in sports through roles at Athlete Ally and has participated in NCAA leadership workshops. Notable achievements include winning the 2023 Akron Marathon and being inducted into the Oberlin College Athletics Hall of Fame (2022).
- Research Interests: Feminist leadership in sport, inclusive coaching strategies, athlete well-being, and LGBTQI+ inclusion in athletics.
- Awards: Oberlin College Athletics Hall of Fame, Adidas & Athlete Ally Research Fellow.
- Grants/Consulting: NCAA leadership institutes, nationwide athletic department consultations.
She leads the Highland Square Running Club and collaborates with the research team at Athlete Ally to promote equitable sport environments.
