Dr. Jo Lindquist is a Teaching Professor and Director of Teaching Faculty Mentoring in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She coordinates SPAN 105 for High Beginners and advises Study Abroad programs. Her academic roles include Spanish House Faculty Liaison and mentorship for the Carolina Covenant Scholarship. Lindquist holds a PhD in Romance Languages (UNC, 2005), MA and BA in Spanish Literature from the University of Utah.
Her research focuses on medieval Arthurian legend, particularly its literary and visual representations, and 17th-century Dutch artistic influences in Golden Age Spain. She co-authored ¡Anda: Curso elemental para estudiantes avanzados! (2012). Lindquist’s pedagogical work emphasizes critical engagement with cultural norms through classroom materials, and she leads faculty training initiatives.
She serves on the Ackland Planning Committee, University Hearing Board, and Office of Undergraduate Research Committee. Lindquist also mentors the UNC Ski-Snowboard Team. Her scholarly activities include conference presentations on medieval studies, language pedagogy, and mentoring strategies, with recent work in online teaching methodologies and novice instructor development.
