Jo Dicks is an Honorary Professor in the School of Computing Sciences at the University of East Anglia (UEA), affiliated with the Computational Biology group. She holds a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Nottingham, an MSc in Applied Statistics, and a DPhil in Biological Sciences from the University of Oxford.
- Established a bioinformatics group at the John Innes Centre (1996)
- Collaborated with UEA's School of Computing Sciences for over 25 years
- Moved to the Quadram Institute (2013) and UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) in 2018
- Currently leads UKHSA's bioinformatics team within the Culture Collections department
Her research focuses on evolutionary genetics, genomics, and computational tools for microbial collections management. She has contributed to studies on phylogenetics, machine learning in bacterial genomes, and biofuel production optimization.
