Jo Barnfield is a Senior Lecturer in the Integrated Foundation program for Fashion, Textiles, and Graphic Design at the University of the West of England's Faculty of Arts, Creative Industries, and Education (ACE). She holds a BA in Fashion and Textile Design, an MA in Multi Disciplinary Print, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE), and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).
Her research explores:
- Fashion/Textile Design: Pattern cutting innovation and garment construction techniques
- Multimedia Practice: Communication and social justice through moveable type design
- Cultural Studies: Itinerant makers and commodification of printed ephemera
- Technical Design: Adobe Illustrator applications for fashion illustration
She teaches Pattern Cutting, Printed Textile Design, Graphic Design, and Letterpress Printing. Professional experience includes garment development and technical illustration in high-end fashion. She authored The Pattern Cutting Primer and Vintage Pattern Selector (Bloomsbury).
