Dr Jo Ashby is a Professor and Head of the School of Psychology at Manchester Metropolitan University. She is a member of the Faculty of Health and Education’s Executive Group and the University’s Academic Board.
Her research focuses on substances misuse treatment, long-term recovery (particularly alcohol), and the relational aspects of behavior change. She emphasizes qualitative research methodology, narrative psychology, and dialogical approaches.
She supervises six PhD students on projects involving forensic research and health research, including staff-prisoner relationships and men’s health. She is part of the Substance and Addicted Behaviours (SUAB) research group and the Association of Heads of Psychology Departments (AHPD).
