About
Jiye Fang is a Professor of Chemistry and Materials Science at Binghamton University (State University of New York). He holds a PhD in Materials Science from the National University of Singapore and has held academic positions at the University of New Orleans and Cornell University. His research focuses on nanocrystal synthesis, electrocatalysis, and energy materials, with emphasis on functional nanocrystals for sustainable energy applications. He leads a research group exploring nanomaterials for fuel cells, perovskite photovoltaics, and high-pressure material behavior.
Education:
- B.Sc., M.Sc. in Chemistry, Lanzhou University
- M.Sc., Ph.D. in Materials Science, National University of Singapore
Research Interests:
His lab bridges nanocrystal structure and energy properties, focusing on shape-controlled synthesis, electrocatalyst design for ORR/OER/HER, and perovskite materials. Current projects include PGM-free electrocatalysts, facet-dependent nanocatalysts, and pressure-induced material phase transitions.
Awards:
- SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Scholarship (2024-25)
- NSF CAREER Award (2005)
- World's top 2% researcher at Binghamton University (2023, 2021)
Grants & Collaboration: Extensive funding from NSF and industry collaborations. Editorial roles include Nanomaterials and Catal. (Springer Nature).
Labs/Teams: Active research group with international conferences and interdisciplinary projects in nanomaterials and sustainable energy technologies.
